Sales Type in Tide (WIP)

This article will provide more information about sales types.

Sales type can be configured for both a Tour Operator en Travel Agent, possible values are 

  1. Own Organization
  2. Resale

1. Own Organization

In this case, the travel agency or tour operator acts as the actual organizer of the trip.

Key Characteristics:

  • The travel agency puts together the travel package themselves (flights, hotels, transfers, excursions, etc.).

  • They are legally responsible for the execution of the trip.

  • The customer signs a contract directly with the organizer (i.e., the agency itself).

  • The travel agency bears the risk and responsibility if something goes wrong (like cancellations, complaints, or supplier issues).

Example:

A travel agency organizes a group trip to Italy, including bus transport, accommodation, and a tour guide. They handle all contracts and pricing directly — they are the organizer.

2. Resale (Third-party Sale)

Here, the travel agency sells a trip organized by an external tour operator.

Key Characteristics:

  • The travel agency acts as a middleman, not the organizer.

  • The customer signs a contract with the third-party tour operator.

  • The agency earns a commission for the sale but is not legally responsible for the trip’s execution.

  • Complaints or changes go through the actual organizer.

Example:

A customer books a holiday package from a Tour Operator through the travel agency. The agency facilitates the booking, but the Tour Operator is the responsible organizer.
